WHY I'M RUNNING
I’m running for the Phoenix Elementary School District #1 Governing Board because I believe in the power of public education. That belief comes from every seat I’ve sat in, whether as an elementary school teacher and administrator, law professor who studies educational institutions, and now, as a parent raising my son in this district.
Right now, our district, like many other public school districts around the country, is facing several crises at once. Declining enrollment, rising costs, and chronic underfunding have already led to multiple school closures across our community. Teachers are overworked and underpaid. Families across the district feel disconnected and distrustful of those in power, and are being told, time and again, that public schools are the problem rather than an institution worth keeping their children in. And who bears the brunt of all of this? Our students, who deserve more.
It does not have to be that way. We can, and must, fight back. Our public schools are worth it.
COMMUNITY. CREATIVITY. COALITION.
CAITLIN'S PRIORITIES FOR OUR SCHOOLS
Caitlin is running on a platform built around three commitments: Community, Creativity, and Coalition. Her top priorities on the Phoenix Elementary School District Governing Board will be:
Ensuring equitable access and academic success for every student, in every school.
Keeping our district schools open and fully funded.
Providing a safe, welcoming environment for every student.
Strengthening enrollment through family confidence and community outreach.
Real board accountability, transparency, and communication.
Building pathways for substantive and frequent community engagement.
